Dying to Learn, Dye Class

June 24, 2020 (Wednesday)

Dyed Alpaca Roving

Have you always wanted to learn about dying?

This class is designed to introduce you to many types of dying techniques. Pictured here is a technique we will do called Ice Dying. A fun, free form dying that lets nature and chemistry do some wonderful things on gorgeous Silk.

We will do a little hand painting of yarn & roving, as well as steam dying and kettle dying. You will learn about different types of mordants and dyes, including natural dyes and plants that you can grow in your own garden to use in your dyeing studio.

We will also demonstrate preparing a raw fleece for the mill as well as washing a fleece in preparation for dying and carding.

All levels welcome.
